Description | Plants electing 3-8cm tall. Leaves 4-12mm long, 3-8mm wide, petioles 5-10mm long. Flowers 1 or 2 at top, white, calyx lobes 6-7mm long, labium ca. 2.5mm long (upper surface), longer than calyx lobes, flowering in July to August. Terrestrial. Perennial plants. |
Note | Myrmechis japonica (Reichenbach f.) Rolfe often occurs near Mitchella undulata Siebold & Zuccarini (Rubiaceae). Both flowers are small and very similar to each other. Due to these, it is relatively difficult to find native Myrmechis japonica in the dark forest. |
